Photography
has always been an interest of mine, but pursuing
it on a level higher than leisure or recreation
has been difficult. It could be argued that to
this day my participation in the world of photography
is nothing more than leisurely or recreational,
as I am not doing wedding photography, studio
portraits or any other form of pre-meditated shootings
for the explicit purpose of making a buck. But
if you take it beyond leisure and recreation,
it becomes work... and nobody likes to do work!
I graduated from James Madison University in
2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Media
Arts and Design, with a concentration in Digital
Video, and a minor in Film Studies. Spending so
much time around video and film I was continually
reminded of how much I loved, for lack of a better
term, pretty pictures. I can analyze plot structures
and character development in any film, but at
the end of the day (or many years later) I remember
a film by the way it looked on screen; the location
of the camera in relation to the subject, the
composition of elements in the frame, the use
of color, and the action that occurs within the
small, confined square that captures what we ultimately
see.
I developed Mindless Conception Photography to
showcase my favorite photographs and share my
passion with the world.
